"These who have turned the world upside down, have now come here" Act 17:6
The word “Church”, means many different things to different people. To some it’s a building or a place. To others, it’s a weekly service. We believe that the earliest followers of Christ modeled something drastically different, and we seek to rediscover this way.
Ecclesia, the Greek word most commonly translated into “church”, describes a called-out assembly or community who shared life together, and took action to create change in their cities. The first century churches met in homes, shared meals and their lives with each other, and encouraged each other in “love and good deeds” (Heb. 10:24) They turned their world upside down.
G42 trains, encourages, and equips the formation of small communities we call “Tables” because we believe it speaks to both the style and size of the group. These groups of 4-12 believers meet as much as possible to: 1. Remember and experience the love of God in Christ. 2. Learn to love and support each other, and 3. Encourage and equip each member to sacrificially love the neighborhoods where they live.
G42 Tables can be described as missional “micro” churches, however they also often exist within, and are members of, larger traditional churches. In either environment, we seek to partner with, and support the efforts of all believers to actively reveal the love of Christ.
A healthy community is multigenerational; where the passion and energy of youth is mixed with the experience and wisdom of older members. We are looking for fathers and mothers to coach some of our young leaders who are planting Table church communities. All that is required is a passion for the Kingdom of God, and the ability to mentor others through many of life’s challenges.
We believe that God is drawing people back to this way of life in community. If you are interested in learning more about joining or starting a Table near you, we’d love to hear from you.
